Skin Rejuvenation
Cosmetic surgery can often be delayed or indeed prevented by early and proactive skincare. Avoiding the harmful effects of the sun’s UV radiation is the start to maintaining healthy skin but there are other ways this can be done.
At the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, our consultants will make an assessment of your skin and advise on how to reverse the signs of aging and maintain a more healthy and youthful appearance. This can be achieved by the use of medical grade topical skin care products which can be continued at home and the use of injectable products done at the Clinic in Melbourne.
For your convenience, this can be done at the Clinic outside business hours.
a. Skin Care Programs
Cosmedix is a clinical skin care range that can only be distributed through medically affiliated practices. It utilises the latest technology in ‘chiral correction.’ This is a process whereby all ingredients are purified to such a state that they work with the body’s own chemistry to produce maximum results with minimal irritation. Furthermore, the range contains no fillers, artificial perfumes or colours.
Medifacials
These treatments involve gentle exfoliating and hydrating masks containing fruit enzymes and antioxidants. Medifacials are best suited to patients requiring a lighter treatment for their particular skin requirements. The ‘Affirm Custom Mask’, for example, provides antioxidant nutrition as well as a 5 hour lift to freshen your skin before your next important social engagement.
Peel Treatments
Cosmedix leading edge, non-traumatic peels deeply exfoliate the skin instead of destroying healthy skin to make change happen.
Preparing the skin for peels with gentle lactic acid exfoliants and chirally correct AGP complex is essential for deeper peels as it enhances removal of dead skin and improves the effectiveness of the treatment. Prepping is also recommended, but not essential for the more superficial ‘on demand’ peels.
These chirally purified peels are ideal for virtually all skin conditions including
- Sun damage
- Pigmentation(brown blotchy skin)
- Fine lines
- Acne and congestion
- Rosacea
- Dull, lifeless skin
- Dehydrated skin
- Sensitive skin

b. Epidermal Leveling
This treatment is designed to remove surface dead cell build up associated with ageing or congested skin. Epidermal Leveling reveals a fresher more refined skin texture and enhances the penetration of active home maintenance products.

c. Anti-wrinkle treatments
Signs of aging often manifest around the eyes as “crow’s feet” or on the forehead as “frown lines.” These wrinkles are the result of muscle contractions under the skin. The face can be rejuvenated by relaxing the contraction of these muscles and thereby flattening out the wrinkles. This is done by the administration of anti-wrinkle injections into the responsible muscles.
The product used at The Skin Rejuvenation Clinic is the only preparation recommended for safe use in Australia by the Therapeutics and Drugs Administration (TGA).
Everyone’s facial musculature is different. At the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic we will assess your wrinkles individually and design an anti – wrinkle program specifically for you.
The procedure takes minutes to perform and the effects are seen within 48 hours. One treatment can last up to six months if administered properly in the right spot and the right dose.
The same preparation is also helpful in treating embarrassing excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

d. Dermal fillers
The aging process involves the loss of tissue in certain areas to give a hollow or deflated effect. This is seen particularly in the lip region. As we age, the loss of soft tissue in the lips gives them a flat and thin appearance. The once full bodied pert lips are gone. Also, vertical creases and wrinkles cause lip stick to “bleed”. Lips can be rejuvenated by the use of an injectable dermal filler. This treatment involves the use of a safe and naturally occurring compound which doesn’t have the allergic effect of some other products. Its effects are also longer lasting.
Some people are born with thin lips giving them a “gummy” smile. Dermal fillers can fill the lips to give a more natural smile.
Dermal fillers are also helpful in rejuvenating those areas where there are deep furrows and creases such around the forehead or mouth.
Depressions in the skin caused by scars or acne can also be addressed by the use of fillers.

e. Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a superficial skin exfoliation treatment that can be performed at the clinic with minimal discomfort. Microdermabrasion deep cleanses the skin, empties out blocked hair follicles and enhances skin texture. Exfoliation using this method is beneficial for:
- congested skin
- extraction of blackheads and whiteheads
- reduction of superficial acne scarring
- active acne
- overall skin rejuvenation
- aging changes
Initially, a series of treatments is usually recommended, after which time regular maintenance treatments are beneficial to achieve optimal results. In conjuction with a good home skin care regime this treatment option is an effective way to dramatically improve the general condition of your skin.
f. Super Intense Pulsed Light (SIPL)
Super Intense Pulsed Light (SIPL) involves the use of high intensity pulses of light to treat various conditions. SIPL is an effective treatment for:
- permanent hair reduction
- surface capillaries or veins
- port wine marks
- pigmented lesions (brown spots)
- skin blemishes
The treatment is safe and relatively painless, and side effects are minimal. However, depending on the type and severity of the condition, it may take several treatments to see desired results, and this will vary between individuals.
For hair reduction, SIPL is absorbed into the hair follicles causing the hair to fall out, and preventing it from growing back. As hair grows in cycles, a number of treatments are usually required to achieve the desired result.
In the case of skin blemishes, the treated area is usually lightened and subsequently much less noticeable following treatment, after the area heals.
During your initial consultation a "patch test" will be performed to determine the skin's response to treatment and to determine the treatment perameters. There are a number of pre-treatment requirements, so please ask about these when booking your consultation to avoid delays in treatment.
