BODY

a. Abdominoplasy (“tummy tuck”)

The abdominal region can undergo a significant change in shape and size during life. This can be due to pregnancy or weight loss, leaving the abdomen sagging with excess skin and the underlying musculature weak. Despite rigid dieting and strenuous exercise some contour changes are irreversible. This is where plastic surgery can be used to redefine body shape by physically removing excess skin and tighten weak musculature. Many of our patients say that this is the single most redefining procedure they have undergone.

The procedure is done in hospital under general anaesthetic and requires a 2 to 3 day stay in hospital.

b. Liposuction / liposculpture

There are some areas of the body fat which are immune to dietary and exercise manoeuvres. Such areas can only be addressed by their physical removal. This can be performed in many instances by the aspiration of this fat via a small incision.

These hard to remove areas include:

  • under the chin
  • flanks
  • hips
  • thighs
  • knees
  • calves
  • ankles

Often these procedures are done as day procedures and require very little “down time”.

c. Calf implants

Some people are looking for more definition in their calves which they have been unable to achieve through exercise alone. Various sized solid silicone implants are available which can be placed under the skin to improve calf contour.

This procedure is often done as a day procedure through a small incision behind the knee.
